Providence Auto Group Donates Tenth Vehicle to Nashville Single Mother

Providence Auto Group donated a Mercury Milan to Kathy Robinson during a surprise announcement at Christian Women’s Job Corp. of Middle Tennessee’s “Moments that Matter” event April 10 at Brentwood Baptist.

Providence Auto Group is a car dealership with a social mission, namely to provide vehicles to Nashville area individuals in need.

“Since we began in February of 2012, PAG has been able to bless the lives of ten individuals and families with the gift of a much needed vehicle,” said co-owner Mike Zeller.

“Every car purchased at Providence Auto Group helps us give away our next car to someone in need.”

The latest recipient is Kathy Robinson of Franklin, Tenn.

When Kathy was a senior in high school, her mother became ill which pulled her away from school. She was on track to become the first in her family to complete high school, but decided to pursue her GED to allow her to spend time to care for her mother.

“Kathy shared with me that she wants to break the family cycle by being the first member of her family to graduate from college,”said CWJC Executive Director Becky Sumrall.

“She cites coming to CWJC as the program that most assisted her in making a step toward that change. Over and over her old car was the major barrier that might prevent her from obtaining her education.”

Affectionately named “Blue”, Kathy’s unreliable car required new radiator fluid once, sometimes twice, a day. When a CWJC board member learned about the dilemma, he sprung into action by contacting PAG. The car dealership was more than enthusiastic about making the donation after hearing Kathy’s story.

Kathy recently graduated from CWJC with her GED. Currently, she is enrolled in Columbia State’s social work program and has completed prerequisites to enroll in nursing school this year. In addition, she’s secured work as a result of her training and education.
